Comprehensive Eye Examination
Why Early, Routine Checks Matter for Children
Great vision doesn't always equal healthy eyes
For children, being able to read the bottom line of an eye chart doesn’t always guarantee good eye health. In fact, kids rarely complain about vision struggles because they simply think everyone sees the world exactly the way they do!
Routine eye exams allow our optometrists to go beyond a basic sight test. We look deep into your child's overall eye health and assess their binocular visual function—how well both eyes work together as a team.
Spotting conditions early ensures that subtle visual issues don't hold your child back in their reading, learning, sports, or confidence. By keeping a close watch on their visual development, we can protect their sight for the future.
Spotting the Signs Early
As kids might not tell you their vision is struggling, it helps to keep an eye out for these common signs:
Reading difficulties or a sudden lack of concentration
Blurry vision (close up or far away)
Hesitation or difficulty walking down stairs
Frequent headaches or eye strain
Ocular discomfort, such as frequent eye rubbing
An inability to distinguish colours
Other complex vision challenges
